A Mothers Tears-
Written By: Lisa Robertson
Open hands, smiles, and arms
Blinded with hopes and charms
Blasts rang out and terror a mists
Flying fire invades and hits
Armed with heavy steel
Fears anguish soon revealed
Son, father running by
Who will stop to hear them cry?
Mother, Sister wait at home
For news the fathers and brothers are coming home
Tormented by their lonely deaths
Watching, waiting for one last glance
Instead they fall in the dirt and sand
What pain in the heart and in our land
Longing for one happy night
together again from across the light
Wanting, rushing to see their soldiers again
a lasting moment to hold their hand…
——
American Pride-
Written By: Lisa Robertson
In the fire, they scream
Echoing beyond the stream
the enemy is at hand
Vast smoke, clouds
lingering above the sand
Left alone, without the hands of their mothers
father, and siblings across the lands
Who will hear their cry tonight
When they see the flash of light, as bullets graze by?
Short lasting to us it seems
moments stretch for eternity
Happy still standing there
The son smiles and stares
Proud strange as it seems
to fight for us, and our American dreams!
